Sleeping through the night? I jinxed us.

Posted Apr 23 2009 5:26pm
So for the last two nights Addie has NOT slept all the way through the night. She was up at 4am last night, and 2:30am the night before. Ughh. I was getting pretty used to her sleeping all the way to 5:30am - it was SO nice. Even if my day did start at 5:30am!

I know it's happening because I've been sort of bragging about it - I jinxed us. At the carry-me-close meeting on Monday I was the only mom who had a 3 month old sleeping that long (and I felt *almost* proud that I was the only one), and when I popped by work to visit with two other co-workers also on mat leave, I was singing the "sleeping through the night" tune. So now Addie has decided I was getting too cocky about it all and she's reverted back to the up-once-a-night routine. Great. Love it.

I tried to reason with her last night...."please baby, please sleep until 5:30 at least, momma will be so happy..." but she was having none of it. She shouted at me. I got the message. She wasn't going away. And then, this morning she was bright eyed at 5:30am (cooing and smiling - good thing she's so cute) after only an hour of sleep . I think I slept about 30 minutes because she was sucking on her fingers SO loudly that I couldn't fall back asleep. Yes, she's still in our room. No, I don't know when she's leaving. We're just not ready yet to move her to her crib...soon though, especially if she's going to suck on her fingers all night.

Tonight I hope she goes back to the 5:30am routine. Actually, I hope she pushes it through to 6am, but I know that's probably asking for a bit much. I like going to sleep and not getting up until *just* before the sun comes up. Wish us luck!
