what are common reasons for vaginal bleeding/ spotting?

hi, i had my period about 4 weeks ago, on the due date for the normal 5 days, then was fine for about a week then my period came back for about 3-4 days, it has been another week and i now have reddy- brown spotting, my appetite has also increased noticably, as has my need to urinate,  does this mean i am pregnant or could very well be? and yes i hav been having sex with my partner without contraception. your help is greatly appreciated
