Quit Smoking = Heartburn?

Posted by itszhc

Today is day 5 without a cig.  It's been easier this time than the last 2 times I tried to quit.  I've had no desires to smoke what-so-ever and I'm not going at it alone this time, my wife is quitting with me.  The only problem I am having is non-stop heartburn since day 2.  Over the past 3 1/2 days now, I have killed an entire large bottle of Maximum Strength Pepto and I've been eating antacids like candy.  Nothing seems to be helping.  I've been avoiding greasy, acidy and spicy foods, I've been drinking mostly water, vitamin water and Hi-C fruit punch.  I've had no more than 1 cup of cofee and no more than 1 soda per day and still I am uncomfortably acidy most of the time and very painfully so the rest of the time.  My wife says she's been very acidy too.  She is using the patch and I went cold turkey.  Is this typical when trying to quit as a result of the stress of trying to quit?  Or is this something I should see a doctor about?
