I graduated with degrees in chemistry and nutrition with honors and distinction. I have additional academic training in communications and information technology. I am currently pursuing a graduate degree in communications at The Johns Hopkins University, with an emphasis of coursework in digital technologies and health communication.
I worked in non-profit association management for seven years and I have more than twelve years experience in the health and wellness field as a personal trainer and fitness instructor. I am proudly certified by the American College of Sports Medicine.
In the summer of 2008, I expect to have my credential as a registered dietitian, after successful completion of the board exam. I plan to pursue a career in nutrition communications and private practice nutrition, with an emphasis on sports nutrition and weight management.
I am a marathon runner, yogini, and PADI-certified open water diver. I hope to add triathlete soon! In my spare time, I enjoy creating healthy recipes - and then cooking them, of course. I live in Washington D.C. with my husband, Andrew.

Hi Rebecca,
My name is Mary. I'm the moderator for the Wellsphere weight loss community. Thanks for joining us. I look forward to reading your posts here.
If you're new to Wellsphere take a few minutes to explore the site. There are tons of great articles on everything from sports to healthy eating to relaxation. If you're looking for something specific the search feature is great. For instance you can use it to find healthy barbeque tips, information on accupuncture and spinning classes along with hundreds of other things.
Feel free to post questions, comments and information. This is truly an interactive community of people who want to live healthier lives. We all work together to support one another. If there is anything I can help with let me know. And welcome to Wellsphere.
