A Few More Great Ideas

Posted Oct 17 2008 9:14pm

Great_idea If you remember, my thought of what made up a Great Idea is something that is Simple  + Wee Bit Crazy.   Something that is so obvious that it makes you say, "why didn't I think of that" and at the same time say, "man, I could have never pulled that off".  Yes, those are the signs of a Great Idea.

Reading through the most recent Runners' World, there were two great examples of Great Ideas:

The first one HopeRuns.  Started by two 25 year old runners Lara Vogel and Claire A Williams, they are using running to bring hope to Kenyan orphans.   And succeeding!   Simple idea in your own hometown, but begins to be more challenging in Africa.   How many of us would have the courage to try this?   To make it better, you can read their thoughts on their blog. It is a great idea and reminder that each of can get involved and make a difference in our communities.

The second one is the Hanson-Brooks Distance Project.  This group of 17 elite runners support each others efforts to become the best runner they can be.    Follow their story.  Another great idea and reminder to us to find runners with similar aspirations and goals and support each other.   Running friends make us better!

Great Ideas are everywhere!
