So last week I may or may not have bumped up my mileage in an attempt to get 40 miles in for the week. It wasn't a huge, huge jump, but the past few days I've been experiencing some pain in my left achilles.I know pain in the achilles is not something to take lightly. I only feel it sometimes, when I'm at home, and haven't felt any pain whatsoever on a run. Regardless, I'm going to take today off.I did some internet research and found several reasons for the pain:-Sudden increases in training can lead to achilles tendonitis. -Excessive hill running or speed work. -Tight calve muscles.Bingo! I experienced ALL three last week.Thank you, Dr. Foot.To help with the pain, I should:-Cut back on your training routine -Reduce hill and speed running -Avoid excessively flat shoes and try not to walk bare foot too muchSince I work from home, I walk around barefoot all day long. In fact, I'm barefoot now. Guess I better put on some gym shoes....
