Feeling Better... Finally!

Posted May 06 2009 1:34pm

Good morning everybody! The weather here in Michigan is beautiful today and I am not even at work. Awesome. I will pay for it next week with a 50+ hour work week and loads of patients, but for now "its all good".

I had a pretty good 16 miler this morning and it felt great to just get out there and run. I am FINALLY getting over this cold which has really had me tired and even a little cranky. I guess I never really considered the fact that long runs could knock down your immune system and make you susceptible to every bug currently making the rounds. I read a couple articles about this and the consensus is that any run over an hour will cause a 24 to 48 hour drop in the immune system. Maybe that is why I have been getting sick so much.

I do know this... I am going to do everything I can to be healthy in 3 weeks. It is Bayshore Marathon time and my shot at redemption. Running Boston as sick as I was really stunk. It is hard to complain when you are lucky enough to run the Boston Marathon, but I was really excited to run a good time and that just wasn't going to happen. 26.2 miles in 20 short days sounds pretty good right now.

Best of luck to everybody and as always, RUN WELL!

Included splits from this morning as I can't get my Bones In Motion to post on here anymore..... Darn computer illiteracy!
