I found out several months ago that I was nominated for
Sportswomen of Colorado. This award pays tribute to Colorado's outstanding female athletes and to persons who have contributed to girls and women's athletics at its 35th Annual Awards Banquet on Sunday, March 8th.
Here is their Mission Statement:
-To recognize and publicly honor outstanding female athletes in Colorado.
-To encourage lifelong participation and enjoyment in girls' and women's sports.
-To increase awareness among parents and educators of the academic, social, physical and psychological importance of girls' athletics.
-To provide visible role models for young women.
-To increase media exposure and financial support for girls' and women's sports.
The highlight of the evening will be the surprise presentation of the Sportswoman of The Year Award to the state's most outstanding female athlete on the basis of her 2008 achievements. They will actually have a live webcast of the event (starting at 7pm Sunday) at
http://www.fox31prepzone.com/. If you are lucky, you'll get a glimpse of David's new metal brace (looks like a torture device) that he has to wear for a month while he heals! It makes his arm protrude stiffly out to his side. Other than that, he is recovering nicely! Thanks for all the well wishes!
