The New Year

Posted Jan 22 2009 6:51pm
2 coffees with Baileys
5-7 beers
6-8 games of cornhole
1 football game
2-3 glasses of wine with dinner
1 beer at party
1-3 glasses of sparkling wine at midnight
1/2 glass of sparking wine at home

= my first DNR. As in... Did Not Race. As in... Did Feel Like Shit, so Did Not Race.

Ehhh well, it was only a 5k and some things in life are more fun than racing.

Anyway... I hope everyone else's New Years were as fun as mine! Well... except for the throwing up ALL day yesterday, I hope none of y'all experienced that... I mean, I did do enough of that for the bulk of us, I think.

So, as the new year begins, it's time to review last year. Generally, I'm not a new years resolution kind of gal... But, I am a list maker and goal setter and I think that the new start of the year is the perfect time to assess my running.

2008
Total Miles: 1,654.5
Total Races: 14
New PRs set in 2008: Marathon & 5k.
# of times I cried after a race: 1 (Eugene Marathon)
Age Group Awards:
2nd place in Hill and Dale 8 miler (my first award ever!)
1st place in Fools 5k
3rd place in Goodlettsville Classic 4 Miler
1st place in Gobbler Gallop 11k
2nd place in Frostbite 5k
Weight Lost since Jan 1, 2008: 14 pounds.

So, all-in-all 2008 was a kick ass running year for me. And I anticipate 2009 will be just as awesome.

Goals for 2009:
1. Run 3 marathons. (This means training for a marathon in the summer. Which, I have yet to do.)
2. Set a new marathon PR.
3. Set a new half marathon PR (Sub 2:00 hours).
4. Run in the Nudist 5k.
5. Run the Bourbon Chase (still looking for 5 people to complete my team, by the way).
6. Lose 10 more pounds. Maybe 15?
7. Volunteer at a race.

So, there we go. Nothing too crazy there, I don't think.

2009 is going to be a kick ass year. I can already tell.

Happy New Year!
