Sometimes you just have to run. It was a frustrating day. We are so close but can't smash the final bugs. I walked out of work at 5:15 to keep that appointment with myself I keep telling myself I need to keep. My legs, especially my calfs were still killing me from Sunday's run. I drove to Club by my house and across the street from where my Son had Karate. This used to be my regular morning run spot. It was hot and debated running on the treadmill, but I decided no you have to take advantage of these days. I suited up and put a due rag to protect my balding head and get some sun protection. I stretched the calves a little and then just started running. It was strange I actually felt good. Maybe it was the music. I used iTunes Genius to mix me some new play lists. You should try it works pretty good. I felt I had a little speed and I was actually running and not jogging or doing the old man shuffle. With in the first mile another runners was going the opposite direction. He was moving, perfect shape, just shorts and a headband. Oh to be young again. I waved, he didn't. First Mile was 8:50, second mile 8:54. I tried to keep the pace under 9 minutes, but slipped a little at the 3 mile mark. Now I was hot and thirsty. At the 3.5 mile mark I started to get a little light headed and thought I was might pass out. I thought about slowing down, but I kept telling myself. Not these is why you train. You have to push yourself. I huffed and puffed but the Nike+ started talking to me 400 yards, 300 yards, 200 yards, 100 yards, congratulations. I tried to put a little speed on. I went a little over 4 miles so my pace came out to 8:57 a mile. When I finished I just felt like screaming! I wanted to pound my chest and say take that life. You haven't beaten me yet. Needless to say I was fired up and glad I kept that appointment with myself and ran. This morning legs are a little sore but nothing to really worry about it. I celebrated with some chocolate milk because someone told me that is good way to help recover quicker. Still hurting, but still fighting.
