I was able to get out of work at 5:00 an beat it to the club. I got there in enough time I was about to do the initial test for the
100 push up challenge. I was only able to do 16 push up. What a joke. that puts me into Category 3 for my workouts. Well the challenge is on so lets see if I can do it.
After my disappointing pushups test I saw I had an hour to run before picking up my son. I decided to try a 4 minute run and 1 minute walk, interval I saw on www.runnersworld.com to extend mileage slowly. I set it to a 10 minute mile pace, and then walked for one minute at a 20 minute mile pace. It actually felt pretty good. I ended up increasing my speed to 9.15 mile pace after the first 30 minutes. I wanted to see if I could hit 6 miles in an hour so I really had to kick it up. After hitting 4.75 miles with 10 minutes to go I thought this might not be the right thing to do. I could be risky an injury or just tiring myself out for the week just because I wanted more miles in one workout. I decided to stop at 5.5 miles which was just over 55 minutes and do a 5 minute cool down. It was a good workout but I have to really use my head more and not just think about miles. I have to think about how I'm adding miles and the impact I'm putting on my body. I still have time to work my way up. I don't have to do it over night.
