Dignity Is All

An excerpt from a recent feature on trend forecasting site, WGSN reads thus:

British Beauty Blogger is one of the more respected beauty blogs. Preferring to remain anonymous, she explains: "It's best I fly under the radar as it can get a bit tricky with PRs, even though most know me." PRs are in a difficult situation. They want to be helpful to the bloggers, by sending them products to road test and assess. But they can't control what they say. Kate Shapland, beauty editor, Telegraph Magazine, is not a fan of the beauty blog. "As a trained journalist, I present to consumers in a professional way. Those who set up blogs and say what they do and don't like have no authority. I find that, in the main, the information they provide isn't helpful to the consumer." Shapland sees blogging as an excuse to set up a platform to talk about yourself.

Now, I'm happy for anyone to have their view but unless Kate has been horribly misquoted (and I have to bear in mind that she may well have been), it strikes me as a little bit rich that she now has her own blog dedicated to legs and cellulite. It just goes to show how irrisistible blogging is and if you love beauty, you kind of just can't help it.
