Which celebrity are you embarrassed to love? (RPatz in the house)

Posted Dec 04 2008 1:09pm

Jolie goes in waves with celebrities.  When I was fourteen years old, it was all Eddie Vedder, all the time.  This was, for the most part, before the internet, so I would go to the school library in the morning or during lunch and search for archived Pearl Jam newspaper articles on microfiche…like, for hours.  (I know.  Part of me just wants to go back and time and give nerdy baby Jolie a hug.)  At the end of high school, my future husband was Brad Pitt; over the nears, I’ve nursed peculiarly intense crushes on Tom Welling, Emile Hirsch, Josh Hartnett and one of the dudes from McFly.

Lest you think only pretty boys hold my interest, oh-ho!  You’d be wrong.  The dorky fascination has extended to female stars, too: Lucille Ball, Grace Kelly, Mandy Moore and Kate Middleton have all been subject to intense preoccupation with haircuts and face angles and mannerisms at one time or another, as well.

My latest time-suck victims?  Kate Winslet –who is just looking so damn good in every photo, but more importantly, has in spades the grace, talent and intelligence that’s so sorely lacking in today’s Hollywood “stars”–and Robert Pattinson.  (Yeah.  The jolie-laide vampire dude.  I search for gossip and sightings about this guy way too much.)  I stand by my female models…but I never claimed to have good taste when it comes to guys.  You likes what you likes, right?  Apparently, I like a pale, dirty, only-attractive-from-certain-angles-if-you-squint British kid who needs to take a shower.  Ahh, love.
