Thoughts on a skin problem?

My husband and I went away to Italy for over a week, where it was HOT and humid, and we showered 2-3 times per day.  Then we came back to New England where it was cold and dry.  My husband did not realize that the salt had run out for our water softener, and our water is pretty hard...so for about a month we were showering in that really awful water.  He has fixed the problem and I am STILL really itchy, although it has gotten a little better over the past 2 weeks or so.  It comes and goes, and seems that I feel better when I am outside walking around.  I am much worse in public places, and don't know what on earth is bothering me.  I have these weird muscle twitches too.  I am thinking maybe an indoor allergy or a food.  Doctor saw me last month and thought I had eczema, which I did have briefly as a child.  I am not sure what it is, and honestly don't care much except that the itching keeps me from functioning as well as I am used to.  I have NEVER had any history of allergies before in my life.  Any thoughts?
