What causes burning in the nasal cavity?

I have a burning feeling in one side of my face by my nasal passage. It was onset when I had a really bad head cold a couple weeks ago. The burning feeling lasts for about 10 seconds but comes back every 3-7 minutes. When it happens, I can barely write with my right hand.
