What causes under arm numbness?

I recently went to the beach and while there i noticed that my right armpit had become numb. I paid no attention to the fact that it was numb because i had fallen asleep on the beach earlier that day and had slept on my arm. However, it has been 3 days now and my armpit is still numb. Is this something that i need to be worried about?
