Why do we snore?

snore Do you or your partner snore? Does snoring make you crazy? Is it a problem you face every night? Snore affects the quality of your sleep and might wake you up many times during the night.
Snores often happen when you have too much throat and nasal tissue, or floppy tissue that is more prone to vibrate. Sometimes, the position of your tongue while sleeping, might get in the way of breathing and causes snoring.

10 Causes of snoring:

1. Anatomy of your mouth: Having a low, thick soft palate or enlarged tonsils or tissues in the back of your throat can narrow your airway and cause snoring.
2. Nasal problems: Chronic nasal congestion or a crooked partition between the nostrils.
3. Sleep apnea
4. Being middle-aged or beyond: As you age, your throat becomes narrower, and the muscle tone in your throat decreases.
5. Being male: Men have narrower air passages than women and are more likely to snore.
6. Alcohol consumption: Alcohol relaxes throat muscles and decreases your natural defenses against airway obstruction.
7. Being overweight: Fatty tissues and poor muscles contribute to snoring.
8. Smoking(Actively or passively): Smoking relaxes muscles and creates nasal congestion.
9. Alcohol or medications: They relax your muscles and cause snoring.
10. Allergies, asthma, a cold, or sinus infections: Blocked airways make inhalation difficult and create a vacuum in the throat, leading to snoring.
