Diligence

What is diligence? How does it affect our lives? One of the greatest definitions that I’ve found is; decisive work ethic. Perhaps an even better way to define diligence, is to use one of its synonyms; passion. We have passion for many things in this life. Sometimes we allow them to control us, sometimes we control them. It is in that great balance between want and desire, that we make our residence and find a way to express what we believe. So what does this have to do with what we do on a daily basis, and how we do it? That’s the keyword: do. To borrow a famous quote, “Just Do It”. Now, believe me when I tell you, that I don’t need a two hundred dollar pair of tennis shoes or a multi-million dollar endorsement to get up every morning and give one hundred percent. That definitely wouldn’t hurt matters any, but I somehow don’t see that happening any time in the near future. So what makes me stay the course? How do I keep going? Where do I get the passion to go forward in the face of adversity?

Well, to be quite honest, I have had a great many experiences thus far. A lot of them have been good some of them have been bad. Usually the bad ones are a result of my own short-sightedness or poor judgment. But after a period of realizing that the sun is still going to come up in the morning, and everyone else is going to keep on living, I have no choice but to go forward. Hopefully, I progress having learned from my short-comings. Think about this; no matter what happens to you, or around you, the person you are still has to live. So decide for yourself just how you want to live. Decide what you want out of life. Decide what you want to be, and just be. Take this approach to your life take this approach to your workouts. If you find a way that seems reasonable to you and it doesn’t harm others, apply it to what you are doing. Find the passion that burns inside of you like no other and embrace it. Let the world know that you are here to do what you are here to do. And most importantly: don’t apologize for who you are. Be diligent in your everyday life and your exercise program. Be steadfast in your pursuit to enrich the lives of others. Don’t make excuses make this world a better place. You can do it! You can do it because you know that everyday the steps you take toward your goals are adding up and will culminate in great results for you and those around you. My challenge to you is: do one thing everyday toward a goal that you have in fitness or life. Do that one thing for one month, and see what happens.
