Recently I researched statistics posted by the World Health Organization (WHO) on tension headaches. Did you know that:
“In developed countries, Tension Type Headache (TTH) alone affects two-thirds of adult males and over 80% of females.” (WHO, March 2004)
The majority of us suffer from physical symptoms related to too much thinking. Thinking that is related to the regret over the past or fear about the future; anything except the present moment!
When we listen to those fearful, worry thoughts, the scalp becomes tense; the jaw hardens; the muscles in the neck and shoulders contract and don’t relax; and on and on . .
Through breath work, body work, EFT, yoga and any number of processes, we can come out of our minds into our bodies - into the present moment.
Relaxing the mind relaxes the body.
