I'm a wife and mom. I'm a writer, copy editor and a music lover. I'm an athlete and a reader. I'm trying to balance it all. Why Sound Check Mama? I chose it for two reasons: My daughter was born deaf and now hears with cochlear implants, and we have to do a sound check with her processors to make sure they're working. It's also a nod to my love of music.

Although my hearing loss doesn't define me, it has definitely affected me! I grew up with a bilateral hearing loss that was discovered when I was 4 years old. I wore a hearing aid and was mainstreamed in school.
