I snapped a photo of Loomis while he was sleeping and put Miss Dottie’s bear under his arms. It would be a cool idea if he actually took the bear and put it under his arm on his own.
Isn’t he so small?!!?

Papaya salad. I haven’t made papaya salad in a while, so this one didn’t come out as great. It was spicy and good, but there was this bitterness that was left behind from the shallots. I must have put too much.
Homemade popcorn and Bones on DVD. Has anyone watched this show? Long and I are catching up on it since all of our favorite shows are out of season. Favorite shows are: Battlestar Gallactica (which is ending)
, LOST, Heroes, Survivor… wow we watch a lot of T.V.
Whole Grain Belgian Waffle with flaxseeds.
2 sunnyside up eggs on top of 2 slices of whole wheat toast + tomatoes, cayenne pepper, s + P and cilantro. Simple, but SO good.
Mint green tea. I’m running low on my teas, need to stock up soon.

Jamba Juice Tasting Event
June 12th, 2009 Emeryville, CA
Brian and Kim giving their speeches about Jamba Juice’s new product line.
Other food bloggers: L–>R Stephanie from wasabimon and Denise from denise does desserts. I didn’t catch the blog name of the woman on the far right. She was really nice though.
The Jamba Juice Reps giving their speeches along with other food bloggers to the left.
When we were seated, we were presented with freshly squeezed orange juice. I haven’t had fresh oj in a long time, so this was exhilarating.
In the employees kitchen where there are goodies to make daily; one free drink per employee!

Here we are going through their supplies.
Setting up for tasting food.
We were started off with oatmeal… kind of like starting off with breakfast. tehehe. I have to say though this wasTHE BEST OATMEALthat I have ever tasted in my life
Blueberry Blackberry Oatmeal made with steel cut oats and topped with a brown sugar crumble. I would have been happy with just this filling treat! I’ve been craving it ever since that day. They had other oatmeal options, but I did not try it, so I can’t give ya’ll a review.
Next we were turned on to their new line of iced fruit tea infusions. So far, it looks like they only have three varieties: prickly pear, pomegranate, and passion fruit tea infusion. Being a tea drinker and a lover of hot beverages, I have to be honest that these teas did not fair well with me. I mean I like cold beverages, especially the caffeinated ones, but these fruit teas were well….too fruity and not very tea-like to me. I expected them to be more, you could say, infused with tea. The reps said that if I were to order these tea infusions at the store, I could always ask for it to be more tea-like, but after tasting just the tea by itself (I asked for a sample), I don’t think I would. Sorry Jamba Juice! I really tried to like it, but it just didn’t appeal to me. I love your smoothies, Caribbean Passion specifically.

After the fruit-tea infusions, we moved onto the wraps. A total of 4 wraps were offered: 2 vegetarian friendly and 2 filled with chicken. Of course I ate the vegetarian varieties.
I have to say that I was pleased that Jamba Juice generally tried to offer more vegetarian options. Now I know that I can walk into any Jamba Juice and know that I’ll be fed. Yippie!
The first wrap I tried is called Greens and Grains Wrap: “Red quinoa and hummus w/ fresh field greens wrapped in a spinach tortilla, and served with mango vinaigrette on the side.”If you visit the site, you’ll find these items under the New – Grab N Go Food section.
I loved the fact that these wraps were FILLED with veggies! Very filling, crunchy and healthy. Reminded me of spring rolls.

Wrap #2: Greek Goodness Wrap: Feta Cheese, chopped kalamata olives and fresh field greens wrapped in a beet tortilla served with Greek vinaigrette on the side.
This one was my favorite. I loved the feta cheese, the beet trotilla. I especially loved the OLIVES! It was like a salad in a wrap. Good and ready to go. I didn’t care too much for the dipping sauce. You all know me, I like things plain and simple. Sometimes the flavors of the entree itself is enough.
Whew! can you tell I ate a lot today?! It was hard to refuse–so much good and healthy food here.
We move on to the Salads. They offered to salad options, but I was only able to eat this one: Couscous and Produce as it was the only one without meat. Contents of this salad were: Israeli couscous, diced jicama, red bell peppers, currants, and sliced almonds on a bed of crisp romaine and field greens, served with whole grain mustard dressing on the side.
Lots of texture here and I enjoyed it thoroughly! When you buy the package at the stores, you’ll probably think that it’s small, but try plopping everything down onto a plate and you’ll see that it’s well a filling meal. I can’t wait to get some more.
NOT DONE EATING JUST YET! They also gave us samples of their new line of flatbreads. Although I was getting full, I enjoyed the MediterraneYUM and the Tomo Artichoko. The four cheesy was a little too much for me. Although I preferred the crusts to be a lot thicker though.
MediterraneYUM: “A Crispy flaxseed crust topped with Mediterranean-style grilled zucchini, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and a combination of feta and mozz cheese.”
Four Cheesy: “A thick and crispy crust topped with tomato-basil sauce and a classic Italian four cheese blend (mozz, provolone, parmesan, and romano)”
Tomo Artichoko: “A crispy flaxseed crust topped with perfectly seasoned tomato sauce, diced artichoke hearts, a blend of three cheeses (asiago, romano, parm) and crunchy breadcrumbs”
Say the Blissful word of the day and you’ll receive a discount off your order! That day it was “coconut”

Taste testers and Jamba reps in oversized lab coats. Can you spot Leng? I’m looking right at you.

That was a long post!
