This is a Q & A for
Dr. Heidi Dulay. The question is about how there can be over 70 ingredients in a whole food supplement.
Paula from Ft Myers, Florida asks:
With all those ingredients in the Pops, how much of each one can actually be in a capsule?
Most of the ingredients would be a capsule all by themselves! Dr. Heidi replys:
Enough of each ingredient is in each capsule so that the synergy among them makes a difference.
Synergy, not quantity, is the key to their effectiveness - much like good teamwork is the key to winning. For example, having all its co-factors makes the indole C carbinol (a cancer-fighting nutrient) in broccoli and the 4 other cruciferous vegetables in the
Green Pops maximally useful to the body.
Both Pops also contain Bioperine®, a standardized extract of black pepper that activates metabolism and increases the bioavailability of nutrients. It amps up the effectiveness of all the nutrients in the Pops.
"Less is more" in nutrition means that our bodies can more easily process - and use - small quanitites. In the long run, this translates to more health.
