Have Fun Outdoors!

Posted Jul 07 2009 5:29pm

Camping Are you planning outdoors activities this summer? Camping? Hiking? Fishing?

We normally have an equipment list before heading out for most activities. What we generally forget is the first-aid kit, sunscreen or insect repellant.

They should be included on your list whether you are going fishing or camping. Outdoor activities can be a lot of fun but insect bites and sunburn can ruin your good time.

It’s important to bring the “outdoor” protection kit because you don’t always have a pharmacy near by when you are camping, especially if you are going to a national park or an isolated area. Fishing trips may turn into a nightmare if you don’t carry sun blocker or sunburn relief products with you.

Hiking, canoeing and mountain biking can be a lot of fun but remember these few tips to prevents problems this summer. First, don’t wear new shoes if you are going hiking, old and comfortable shoes prevent blisters. You may not notice bugs biting you when you are walking. Be sure to have insect repellents, which can keep your skin protected at all times.

Mosquitoes bother people in parks and recreational areas. Keep in mind, mosquitoes breed in standing water and emptying water from containers around your backyard or deck can be an easy way to minimize their presence and prevent bites.

Insect repellents help prevent and control the outbreak of diseases such as malaria, dengue fever and Lyme disease.
