I thought a lot this weekend about how I wanted to approach finding a balance between eating well and indulging. I've decided to just implement a cheat meal once a week. I've tried the whole cheat day thing before, but those always turned into binge weekends because I just let myself eat whatever the hell I wanted. Hopefully a nice cheat meal on a Friday or Saturday night will help satisfy my cravings without breaking any healthy eating habits I've developed.
On Saturday, I had a late night dinner/snack at a Chinese restaurant called Village Wok with a friend of mine and my cousin. After we were seated, my cousin went to go use the restroom. So my friend and I were just sitting there and we began to discuss something that really elevated my stress and anxiety levels. I didn't plan on eating anything too fattening at Village Wok, but my nerves got the best of me so I ordered some cream cheese wontons to help calm me down. I don't know why, but food always tends to be my best friend when I am stressed out over something. I guess you can call me an emotional eater. I've found ways to combat emotional eating by means of exercise. When you are at a restaurant though, you can't really just stand up and do jumping jacks. Well, I suppose you could, but that would look really awkward.
Life throws all sorts of surprises at you and eating responsibly in certain situations is such a pain in the ass.
