We are going to begin a series of occasional blog posts answering frequently asked questions. We are often asked the same questions, over and over, and so it’s high-time you had some definite answers! Now for our first question:
What do I wear when I am working out with a kettlebell?
The beauty of having your very own kettlebell in your home is that you can workout wherever you are most comfortable - in your living room, workout room, basement, backyard, or garage! Brian works out at the gym often, as he is a Personal Trainer. However, I workout in our living room with our daughter’s toys pushed aside! How convenient!
This is great for me because I don’t have to have any fancy workout clothes! I usually workout in a t-shirt and shorts. And the crux of this question is … do you have to special shoes or shoes period while using your kettlebell?
No. In Andrea DuCane’s Kettlebell Goddess DVD, she says that she prefers to workout barefoot. I completely agree. Because you are using all of your muscles while working out with your kettlebell - and not stabilizing your muscles with a machine at the gym - it is fine to workout barefoot so that you can grip the carpet or ground easier.
There’s your answer. If you have other questions about working out with kettlebells (or of course about fitness in general), please feel free to contact us so we may answer those in future blog postings!
