Smaller Meals for Success

Posted Jun 10 2009 12:20am
Yesterday, I consumed all of my calories before 6 p.m. Half of a cookie here...Another bowl of rice there...Before I knew it, I was already at my daily limit.

Now, I probably would have been better off had I not gone to a Chinese restaurant later that night. I was pretty confident that I could resist ordering something, but when everyone else's food came, I gave in and ordered a chicken with ginger scallion hot pot. I know. Bad decision, right? Well, I worked out for around two hours when I got home to reduce the damage.

Point is, I should not have ate all my calories by 6 p.m. I was hungry later that night and even if I didn't go to the Chinese restaurant, I most likely would have made something to eat before going to bed.

Eating many small meals throughout the day is what I should ALWAYS be doing. This keeps me from getting hungry, boosts my metabolism and makes overeating less of an issue late at night because I will usually still have calories left for the day.

Why do restaurant portions always have to be so huge anyway? They really should modify their menus to accommodate individuals who like to eat six small meals a day. Yeah, I know I could take half of my order home, but leftovers never taste as good.
