I was TIRED when I went to bed last night and I slept in this morning. I woke up about 1/2 hour before I had to leave the house for my spa morning! I had a facial appointment scheduled at Cascades Spa and given that I slept in, my Green Monster this morning was the perfect quick option to go. The funny thing was that I didn’t have any almond milk chilled, so I added a few things to the mix to “chill it up” a bit and it ended up making enough for TWO but without really adding any extra calorie dense stuff, so I took two GM’s for the road AND a coffee (which I didn’t end up drinking because how in the heck was I planning on drinking the three of these on the ride over to the spa, I’ll never know! lol
Breakfast
The Green Monster mix today was:
- 1 frozen banana
- 1c unsweetened original almond breeze
- 1 tbsp Salba
- 1 scoop tropical vanilla ultimate protein
- a few frozen strawberries
- ice cube
- 3-4c organic baby spinach
- then I had to add more almond breeze so that it would all blend together
I slurped all the way to the spa and I finished 1 and a half. It’s a good thing the ride to the spa was 20-25 minutes!
So I got there and arrived early on purpose so that I could take advantage of some of the facilities that they have. I have been thinking about their steam shower all week! So I got my robe, towel and sandals and made my way for a nice relaxing steam shower:

The pretty sinks outside the steam shower area (no one was around so I was snapping away :-D):

Then I made my way to the lounge (without my camera) where I enjoyed a pomegranate & raspberry green tea doubled up with an acai berry tea and sit there and relaxed and waited for the lady to come for me when it was my time.
I enjoyed an amazing facial and the lady assessed my skin and basically told me that the reason why my skin has become oily is because:
- We tend to find products we like and stick to them over a long period of time and then your skin changes (which mine has) and they no longer are appropriate for your skin anymore (or for a while) – I was currently using the Clinique 3 Step & 7 Day scrup (and a tea tree oil masque from the Body Shop)
- My skin is now “older” and can’t “bounce back” the same way it can when you experience breakouts as a teenager so many ingredients found in “those” kinds of products are not helpful for “maturing” skin
- My pours are producing too much oil because my skin has become dehydrated because it’s not getting enough moisture! That’s the opposite of what you would think, right? You would think “my skin is oily, so I don’t need to moisturize or as much”
So she said that I need to be on a skin regimine for acne prone skin and I can prevent my skin from maturing too quickly if I “follow this regimine exactly” To the T she said! She said I can’t not take the time to do it exactly right or I’ll have problems. Great! So of course any person is willing to try what the “professional” says, no problemo…right?
So I went back to the lounge and back to the changing room and dried my hair and got changed etc. and she was going to leave me a sheet and the recommended products she thinks I should use for when I went upstairs.
I took my time and did my hair and it was lovely:

Then I went upstairs and the lady has set out for me
six different Dermalogica products that ALL cost at
least $50 EACH! It would have cost me
easily $500 to get all of the products she was recommending. And here she is telling me that I
need to do it exactly. Nice way to play on a girl’s vulnerability when she wants her face to clear up…on her pocket book. Anyway I obviously did buy nor could I afford to buy the entire line of products she had lined up for me. I bought the cleanser and the oil free moisturizer and am thinking about peddling on the streets to get the masks and spot treatments lol
Then as I left the spa a HUGE headache kicked in. I don’t know if it was the stress of the dollar signs freaking me out, or a big of a caffeine headache from not actually drinking my usual morning coffee. Not sure. I still have it and haven’t had a coffee, but I’m just going to stock up on some H2O for a while and see what happens.
Snack
So I got home and grabbed a quick snack before heading to a friend’s house for a little BBQ and thought that since I’m still on my Yogurt Club kick, I’d get in a delicious yogurt combo! Today’s combo was Liberte plain svelte yogurt, a splash of organic pomegranate syrup, fresh blueberries, a few sliced almonds and some ArtisanaCocoa Bliss crumbled on top:

I LOVE the Artisana line. They are ALL AMAZING and DELICIOUS!

Off to Sarah’s for BBQ!
Later friends!
