More Vitamins in Kiwi

Posted Nov 21 2008 4:51pm

Did you know that each half of kiwi has only 45 calories and a whole kiwi has 2 times more vitamin C than that of an orange? Kiwi or zespri [as known to New Zealand] is a good source of vitamin E, potassium, magnesium, copper and phosphorous. The fruit is also packed with fiber.

When buying kiwis, look for plump, unwrinkled fruits. They should be firm or yield slightly to the touch. If the fruit is too firm, they can be ripened at room temperature in a few days. Kiwis can be kept in the fridge for about a week. If you need to store it longer it would be best to place them in a plastic bag to slow down the rate of ripening.
