What could possiby cause a swollen, painful bulge on the lower left abdomen?

I am eighteen and have been suffering from pain on my left side for a few months now. The doctors never could find the cause so they sent me to a gyn. They performed an ultra sound and put me on the pill. During the ultra soung, the specialist said she couldn't see my ovaries because of bowels. But, recently, I noticed something swollen where she performed the ultra sound. It feels tube-like but it's making me wonder if that was really bowels she was seeing during the ultra sound. What could this be??
