Practice 2: Consciously and Consistently Move Up the Emotional Scale.

A few years ago, I got this list out of the book by Esther and Jerry Hicks entitled Ask and It is Given, Learning to Manifest Your Desires. It easily made sense to me and I made some bookmarks so that I'd constantly refer back to it and practice reaching for a better feeling.

Lo and behold! I discovered that my emotional set point could be exercised, strengthened and improved, just as well as any physical part of me (muscles, yoga poses, computer skills, etc.).

Here's the list:

  1. Joy/Knowledge/Empowerment/Freedom/Love/Appreciation
  2. Passion
  3. Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
  4. Positive Expectation/Belief
  5. Optimism
  6. Hopefulness
  7. Contentment
  8. Boredom
  9. Pessimism
  10. Frustration/Irritation/Impatience
  11. Overwhelment
  12. Disappointment
  13. Doubt
  14. Worry
  15. Blame
  16. Discouragement
  17. Anger
  18. Revenge
  19. Hatred/Rage
  20. Jealousy
  21. Insecurity/Guilt/Unworthiness
  22. Fear/Grief/Depression/Powerlessness

Suggested Use: When you are aware of feeling some strong emotion, try to identify what that emotion is. Then, beginning where you are, try to find thoughts that give you a better feeling. Step by step, move on up. The vibrations you emit as you go up the scale, attract the same.

This is the scale that Esther Hicks spoke of in the increasingly popular movie, The Secret, and is explained in depth in this article from the Abraham-Hicks website: The Emotional Journey from Fear to Hope.

Through practice, I've found that I have developed a response reflex to every situation, even searing pain and discomfort: what's a better thought for me to have here? Also, my practice with the emWave device, The Setting, allows me to move up very quickly now.

Tomorrow: Practice 3 - Wheel of Balance. A survey of all the components of your life; moving toward Wholism.
